This is the dvd cover of Saw.
You can tell its in the horror genre for many reasons. Firstly, the colours it uses. There are mainly dark colours like black which shows that this film is dark and not a "happy" film. Also the writing it uses and the style, a big bold red title connotates blood as its the same colour and the style looksl it has been written in blood. Furthermore, the pictures includes, the front cover shows a foot which looks like it has been trapped. Also the back cover shows a girl trapped in a head mask which connotates people in the story are trapped by someone or something. In addition to this the writing on the cover is a massive clue as to what genre this is. The quote "How much blood would you shed to stay alive" shows that people suffer in this film to stay alive. Also the quotes from the reviews "A Revoolutionary Shocker" shows that this film may be scary which is a characteristic of the genre. Also the sysnopsis of the film shows its a horror as it explains part of the story. Finally, the cover includes the certification of the film which in this case is an 18, this shows its a horror as younger people aren't allowed to watch it.
